Answered Questions:- Are there any reductions: Yes
- Reduction for siblings negotiable
- Do you accept childcare vouchers: Yes
- How Do You Involve Parents/carers In Identifying SEND: Yes
- As mentioned above I would speak to the parents and ask them if they have concerns about their child’s development at home. It is important to have a conversation with parents and work together with them to support the needs of the individual child.
We would then have a meeting with parents and discuss the areas of development that the child is struggling in at home and at nursery.
- How Do You Identify Special Educational Needs And Disabilities (SEND): Yes
- Using our knowledge and experience we complete detailed observations on the child to gather information and evidence. I will then complete a developmental journal with the child’s keyworker, alongside speaking to parents to see if they have any concerns about their development at home. On completion of the developmental journal I will seek consent from parents for me to speak to my SEND practitioner for her to observe the child.
- How Will You Help Me To Support My Child's Learning And Development: Yes
- I would discuss with parents what next steps and strategies I have put in place for the child and I would work with the parents. We would also have termly meetings with parents to see how the child is getting on at home with the next steps and strategies that have been set. If the strategies aren’t working as well then I will discuss with parents other ideas and advice of what they could also do with the strategies. Some strategies may be working at home but not so well at nursery so we will discuss what parents are doing that’s working and we will implement it in nursery and vise versa
- How Will You Ensure My Child's Educational Needs And Well-Being Are Met: Yes
- We have termly meetings with the child’s parents to see how they are getting on at home and to let parents know how they are getting on in nursery with the strategies and target that have been set for the child. We will also update the child’s developmental journal each term to see how they are doing in the areas of development. I will make sure that we adapt the activities to meet the child’s needs and give them some time in the sensory room if they get overwhelmed and agitated.
- How Will Both You And I Know That My Child Is Achieving The Agreed Outcomes: Yes
- We have termly meetings with the child’s parents and I also update the child’s individual plan and write on the outcomes how the child has done with each target that has been set, if the child has achieved it then we will add to the target, such as adding an extra child to the child’s play. Parents will be informed when the child is achieving each target.
- How Do You Adapt Activities And Resources And The Learning Environment For Children With SEND: Yes
- We will look at the child’s needs and we will use the individual plan and the child’s preference in what they enjoy playing with and we will incorporate that into the activity.
- How Accessible Is The Early Years Setting Environment, Both Indoors And Outdoors: Yes
- We have a ramp and steps to go outside so all children can access both indoor and outdoor areas and we include all children in the activities that are set out and adapt them for the SEN children if needed.
- How Will My Child Be Included In Activities Outside The Early Years Setting Including Trips: Yes
- We would plan around the child and we will make sure that the activities outside nursery is adapted for the child. The child will have high levels of supervision with an adult and we will take toys that the child enjoys playing with so if they get frustrated or agitated then they will have their toys that they enjoy playing with.
- How Do You Work With External Agencies To Support Children With SEND: Yes
- With parents permission I send referrals out depending on the child and who they need to be referred too. I will contact my SEND practitioner for advice and I will email certain agencies that are involved
- How Do You Support Children Starting And Leaving The Setting: Yes
- Before the child starts nursery we have 2 weeks worth of visits depending on how the child is they may need more than 2 weeks. We will give out an application pack for them to fill out details about the child.
When leaving the setting, we talk to the child about the school they will be going to and we will show them pictures of the school and uniform they will be wearing and they will have visits to school and sometimes the teacher will visit nursery to see the child. If the child has SEND needs then we will do a SEN support plan for the child and if the child isn’t progressing much in some or most areas then we will apply for an EHCP in advance so the child gets all the support they need when they go to school.
- How Are Staff Trained Regarding SEND: Yes
- Staff have training about the condition/disability the child has and staff will also get informed about SEN children and I let them know about the target and strategies that I have set for the child and the staff implement them throughout the child’s time in nursery.
- Who Can I Contact If I Have A Compliment, Concern Or Complaint And What Action Can I Expect: Yes
- You can speak to Sharon Hobson which is the manager of Jellybabies nursery. She will let the certain staff know if a staff member has been complimented. She will look into the concern/ complaint and investigate and an outcome will be made.
